    “BRICS” is the abbreviation for the five major emerging economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Initially, the first four countries were classified as BRICS (or “BRIC”) until South Africa joined in 2010. The BRIC countries have been praised and criticized by many commentators.
